It is a type of manufacturing activity that is responsible for treating and processing animal skin through an arduous tanning process; where use is made of a chemical compound called tannin, which is responsible for preventing the skin from rotting, basically.

This work can be carried out both industrially and with the labor of local artisans. With the aim of commercializing the resulting material and distributing it to different companies, which later use leather as a raw material to manufacture various pieces, whether they are leather fanny packs, clothing, accessories and more.

Throughout the national territory there are registered about 41,500 shoe stores dedicated to the commercialization and distribution of products made with 100%  manufactured genuine leather; which in turn are exported to more than 20 countries.
FROM RAW MATERIAL TO FASHION ACCESSORIES
The leather industry in Mexico is not only characterized by the manufacture of footwear, but goes further, opening up the field in the creation and design of fashion accessories made by Mexican artisan workmanship.

This type of marketing serves as an alternative for those who want to look elegant and formal, but who for financial reasons cannot access luxury international brands. For this reason, both producers and artisans specializing in leather handling create sales strategies to display their quality products, starting from simple accessories such as leather key rings to ostentatious handbags. In this way they have managed to position their brands, gaining the trust and popularity of consumers.

LEATHER INDUSTRY WORLDWIDE
Both leather and its derivatives are among the products with the highest commercial demand throughout the world. The main reason for this is due (in addition to the cultural part), to the source from which they come and how easy it is to access it; because the raising of bovine animals is an activity that has been carried out for hundreds and hundreds of years, which means that it is renewable.

According to the information obtained by the International Trade Center, it is estimated that this type of business worldwide exceeds 80,000 million dollars each year.
